Isle of Skye, Scotland
Skye or the Isle of Skye is the largest, 50 miles long, and most northerly large island in the Inner Hebrides of Scotland. The island's peninsulas radiate from a mountainous centre dominated by the Cuillins, the rocky slopes of which provide some of the most dramatic mountain scenery in the country. The capital is Portree. Villages in the north of the Island include Dunvegan, Edinbane, Staffin and Uig. Notable villages in the south of Skye include Broadford, Armadale, Carbost, Torrin, Elgol and Kyleakin. Both Clan MacDonald and Clan MacLeod have their Clan Castles on the Island. |
